Imaging setup

Post by bchamberlain » Mon Apr 20, 2020 10:02 pm

Nice to read the different approaches to imaging. Here's mine for what it's worth. Like Ross, my setup is out in the open although I have a couple of USB leads from the PC inside to the scope. My EQ6 mount is permanently set up and aligned using Polemaster. All to save setup time. I'm lucky in having Polaris in view over the roof and fairly clear views East,South and West. The mount is guided via ASCOM using Skymap pro and having found my target, PHD controls a guide star to keep the mount's tracking accurate via a Gerald made off axis guider.
Back Yard EOS and Atik Dusk are the programs I use for the Canon and Atik cameras to set the number and duration of exposures.
I sometimes cover up and turn in at the end of a session leaving the system to do darks and offsets.
